Description: Florida Communities Trust (F.C.T.) is a state

Description: The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federally
funded competitive grant program that provides financial
assistance for the development of recreational trails, trailheads

National Community-Based Lead Outreach and Training Grant

Eligibility: Eligible recipients are those who have the ability
to directly address childhood lead poisoning prevention for
the local communities. This includes a wide range of potential
applicants, such as national environmental consulting firms,
children’s advocacy and health groups, and faith-based
and nonprofit organizations. Other groups include local governments,
institutions of higher learning, trainers, school groups, and
community-based organizations. EPA supports partnerships formed
between national and local organizations to perform activities
within a community. Organizations must represent communities
that have not received a federal or state lead poisoning prevention
grant in the past.
Description: to reduce incidences of childhood lead poisoning
in low-income communities with older housing. Potential activities
include outreach, training, ordinance development, and other
activities that would result in reduction of childhood lead
poisoning. This grant will support the partnership of national
organizations with community-based organizations and local
governments to improve the environmental health of a community
regarding lead poisoning prevention.

Fulbright Student Program Grants
Funding Source: U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational
and Cultural Affairs, Office of Academic Exchange Programs
Funding Amount: It is anticipated that the total amount
of funding available for
all FY 2008 administrative costs to support the program components
listed above will be $10,000,000 and will involve management
of 4,090
new students. The Bureau anticipates that proposals will
include significant amounts of cost-sharing in support of
the Fulbright
Student Program, and encourages applicants to provide maximum
levels of funding in support of this initiative. Awards:
one or more. Bureau grant guidelines require that organizations
with less than four years experience in conducting international
exchanges be limited to $60,000 in Bureau funding. ECA anticipates
awarding one or more cooperative agreement awards in an amount
over $60,000 to support program and administrative costs
required
to implement this exchange program.
Eligibility: Applications may be submitted
by public and private non-profit organizations or consortia
of institutions
meeting
the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section
26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3). Consortia of eligible organizations
applying
for grants should designate one organization to be the recipient
of the cooperative agreement award. Applications proposing
a consortium should provide a
detailed description of the responsibilities of each partner
organization and arrangements for cooperative work among
the partners and between the partners and overseas academic
communities,
binational commissions, PAS and other entities responsible
for the Fulbright program. Organizations with less than four
years experience in conducting international exchanges are
ineligible to apply under this competition.

Intel Schools of Distinction Award
Funding Source: Intel Corporation
Funding Award: There will be three winners selected per category
- one at the elementary level (k-5), one at the middle school
level (6-8), and one at the high school level (9-12). Please
determine in which level and category you will apply well
before beginning the application process.
Eligibility: This awards program is open to K-12 public,
private, charter, parochial schools in the United States,
Department
of Defense Dependents Schools, and Bureau of Indian Affairs
schools. Home schools are not eligible. Entry is limited
to one entry per school. Description: There are two categories
for the 2007 Intel Schools of Distinction award - Math and
Science. Your school may apply for the Intel School of Distinction
in either category. As you read the Criteria for Evaluation,
note the type of information being considered. This information
will provide general guidance for you as you complete your
contest application. The application process consists of
a
one-time online entry submission that will undergo several
rounds of judging. The initial round of judging will determine
the top 60% of all eligible applications received. These
applications will then progress to a second round of judging
in which the
top 10% of the semifinalists will be selected. The third
round will narrow the applications to the top 18 (3 per category
and grade level), and these 18 finalists will compete in
a
final round of judging to determine the 6 category winners.
From these six category winners, one school will be selected
to receive the designation of Star Innovator.

Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Awards
Funding Source: Bank of America Foundation (BoA)
Funding Award: Neighborhood Builders: Provides grants of $200,000
each (or local market currency equivalent) for operating support
to two nonprofit/charitable organizations in each of Bank of
America's forty-four markets. Recipients also benefit from
specially designed leadership development programs. Local Heroes
Honors individuals who exemplify the highest standards in community
service. The program provides donations of $5,000 each (or
local market currency equivalent) to an eligible charitable
nonprofit/charitable organizations, selected by each of five
selected Local Heroes in the BoA's forty-four markets. The
Local Heroes will be recognized at a public awards ceremony
in their local community. Student Leaders selects five young
adults in each of BoA's forty-four markets to participate in
rigorous internship and leadership programs.
Eligibility: Neighborhood Builders program applicant organizations
must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code or be registered with the Charity Commission for
England and Wales (for the London market), and must be based
and serve communities in any of the forty-four Neighborhood
Excellence Initiative markets. Student Leaders must currently
be a junior or senior in high school (U.S. markets); be enrolled
in Sixth Form/College or College of Further Education (London,
UK); be able to participate in a leadership program arranged
by Bank of America; and be able to participate in an eight-week
paid internship at a local nonprofit/charitable organization.
There are no specific eligibility requirements to nominate
a Local Hero- Self-nomination are encouraged.
Description: The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative focuses
on developing relationships with and investing in strong nonprofits/charitable
organizations with great leaders. The program offers leadership
training and general operating support for growing nonprofits,
recognizes a community's local heroes, and embraces the next
generation of student leaders. Local Heroes honors individuals
who exemplify the highest standards in community service. Student
Leaders selects five young adults to participate in rigorous
internship and leadership programs.

Community Schools National Awards for Excellence 2007
Funding Source: Coalition for Community Schools
Funding Award: Awards will be announced in May and given
on Capitol Hill in June. Three individual schools (an elementary,
middle and high school), and up to two communities will be
honored.
Eligibility: Individual Community Schools that have been
operating for at least 3 years, and are public schools, for
which some
measures of success are available and
Communities schools-a city, county, school system, or region
that has demonstrated a strong commitment to going to scale
with multiple community schools.
Description: These awards are given based on the extent to
which a community school or initiative has developed purposeful
partnerships with other organizations that are well-integrated
in the life of the school, the extent to which families and
community residents are extensively involved in the community
school, the extent to which school personnel are connected
to community partners and to the community, and the extent
to which community-based learning approaches are being used.
Schools receiving this award must demonstrate that the community
school or the initiative is moving toward results that it
has set for itself and have unique features and programs
that others
