This is a very comprehensive
listing of grant opportunities (pdf, 148K),
that the Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Advisory
Board has just sent to its mailing list of local FBCOs. To
insure maximum distribution to those who might benefit, we
are now passing it along to the workforce community, state-level
FBCO “Umbrella” organizations and other interested
people and organizations. And we would ask you to do likewise
with your networks and partners.
This list is very extensive (11 pages) and quite timely, noting
deadlines for many grant competitions that close in the next
few months. It includes most of the well-known private foundations/funds,
and several federal agencies, as well as some rather abstruse/specialized
targets/interest (e.g. “Love Your Veggies” School
Lunch Campaign). Most of the grant opportunities appear to
be open to FBCOs, non-profits and some government bodies…..and
very helpfully provides website links that would provide details
re eligibility, amounts available, etc.
While extensive, the list is not totally exhaustive. We are
well aware of other funding sources and opportunities not on
this list, including those offered by the U.S. Deptartment
of Labor, other federal and state agencies. But if you go to
our “CBO-FBO Gateway” at http://www.workforceflorida.com/gateway/index.html you will find other funding source links in the section for “Grants
and Funding Sources & Tips.” If you are not familiar
with the Gateway, take a few minutes to browse to see what
other info/assistance is provided for Florida’s FBCOs
in dealing with government services/programs, particularly
those offering workforce, job training and placement assistance.
We continue to encourage state/local workforce organizations,
our partnered FBCOs and other state/local entities to pursue
such grants aggressively, ideally as joint proposals combining
resources to serve shared customers, especially those with
the greatest needs.
