ACCELER8 EVERGLADES RESTORATION CONSTRUCTION SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION SET FOR FRIDAY, OCT. 13

We need your help! Construction on several Acceler8 Everglades restoration projects has already begun, but contractors and workers continue to be needed through 2010. To help meet this need, the South Florida Water Management District will host its second annual Acceler8 Construction Symposium and Exhibition on Friday, Oct. 13, at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Alico Arena in Fort Myers.

This all-day event will provide information for construction contractors, specialty subcontractors, vendors, and work force development agencies interested in this $1.8 billon construction program for Acceler8, a group of eight expedited projects needed for Everglades restoration throughout Florida. The symposium will provide details on the pre-qualification process for all Acceler8 contracts.

Acceler8 is a major boost for Everglades restoration. By accelerating the funding, design and construction to complete eight key projects by 2011, the greater Everglades ecosystem will experience positive benefits much sooner and in a more cost-effective manner. The expedited course of action reaffirms the commitment of the federal-state-local partnership to revitalize America’s Everglades.
