The Florida Hurricane Relief Fund (FHRF) is pleased to announce
the Florida Comprehensive Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program
This $20,000,000 program is made possible via the Florida
Department of Financial Services (DFS) to help low-income residents
strengthen their homes against natural disasters.
Nonprofits wishing to apply as local administrators are invited
to an information conference at All Children’s Hospital
Conference Center, 801 6th St. South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
on Monday, August 28 from noon until 4 p.m. This conference
is open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit interested in working as
a local administrator in the Mitigation Program for Low Income
Floridians.
The low-income program will be managed by Volunteer Florida
Foundation/Florida Hurricane Relief Fund. Through an RFP process – deadline
Sept 6 -- VFF/FHRF will choose local nonprofit partners to
assist, with preference given to nonprofits willing to work
in the following geographic areas: Broward, Escambia, Lee,
Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Sarasota and Volusia.
YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED to attend this information conference
to apply, although we strongly urge attendance. You can access
the RFP at www.FLAHurricaneFund.org. To RSVP your attendance,
please visit http://www.regonline.com/105930.
Qualifying low-income Floridians may be eligible for assistance
to be used for strengthening their homes, working through selected
nonprofits and Volunteer Florida Foundation’s Florida
Hurricane Relief Fund. This is part of the larger Florida Comprehensive
Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program announced by DFS earlier
this month.
A copy of the RFP and contacts at the Volunteer Florida Foundation/Florida
Hurricane Relief Fund is attached. Please know we look forward
to working with you on this important mission!
Sincerely,
Liza McFadden, President
Volunteer Florida Foundation
