Here is the eagerly-awaited RFP offering WIA
(Workforce Investment Act) funds for local partnerships of
Regional Workforce Boards and homelessness service providers
to assist the homeless in finding and keeping self-sustaining
employment, and getting the training and supports needed to
reach that objective. Note that eligibility to apply is broadly
open, but strongly encourages well-partnered service delivery
designs, and makes linkage with the local Employ Florida One-Stop
system indispensable. Note that this RFP is complementary to
the earlier WFI grant invitation to serve other targeted groups,
but the amounts available here are in addition to the earlier “pot” the
application process is separate. However we are fully aware
that many of those served thought this homelessness grant will
have similar barriers and barriers shared with ex-offenders,
individuals with disabilities, youth aging out of foster care
and other targeted groups.
