FYI, and to pass along to your FBCO contacts
in/serving Pinellas County. Note the proposal deadline is
10/15 and there is a bidders’ conference 9/28. Catholic
Charities won a FBCO grant from USDOL and its purpose is
to reach out to grassroots FBCOs and tie them in with the
local workforce service network ---esp. to improve access/connections
for low-income, limited-English, ex-offenders and other jobseekers
with special needs. This Pinellas project is conceptually
based on the successful pilot operated in Brevard County
as a partnership with the Regional Workforce Board, Brevard
United Way, and a group of local churches/FBCOs. You can
see a PowerPoint description of that project at http://www.workforceflorida.com/gateway/
docs/Intermediaries_the_Brevard_Experience.pdf.
Take special note of the extension notice that extends the
deadline and re-schedules the Bidders’ Conference due
to Hurricane Frances, but the dates have not been changed
in the body of the RFP. And it is a very positive touch to
see that this is collaboratively designed and advertised
by Catholic Charities and WorkNet Pinellas.
Please forward this alert to members, affiliates, colleagues
and others as you see appropriate to reach the grassroots
organizations that can best contribute to the purposes of
this project and benefit from the RFP funds.
The RFP is posted on the following websites:
