See below the link to the list of 48 small "grass
roots" Faith-based and Community based organizations
around the nation that just won grants of $20K to $25K to
improve linkages with local workforce services. Four of the
awards are coming to Florida FBCOs in Homestead, Largo, Okeechobee
and Bartow. The respective Regional Workforce Boards (RWBs)
will need to work closely with them, if you are not already
in a partnership relationship.
Note that USDOL has not yet published the list of awards
in the simultaneous competition inviting local workforce
boards (RWBs) to apply for larger grants, including possible
intermediary relationships. We have been advised that the
Pinellas Workforce Board has been selected to fund its Navigator
outreach to individuals with disabilities, in collaboration
with Catholic Charities and other local partners. However
several other RWBs have also applied but received no notification
yet, so we are hopeful of more good news. And Florida’s
workforce partners at state and local levels will continue
our campaign to aggressively pursue grant funding from multiple
federal agencies and other sources, particularly in partnership
with public, private and FBCO organizations serving a shared
pool of customers.
