The President's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
has issued an updated listing of grant and other funding opportunities
in "booklet" form (47 pages), entitled " Federal
Funds for Organizations That Help Those In Need." The
booklet provides some introductory explanation of how federal
agencies use grant money and how to get more detailed information.
The catalog listings are organized mainly around types of services
and targeted customers, e.g. abstinence education, at-risk
youth, homelessness, housing, etc. Each entry provides a description
of the grant opportunity, the sponsoring federal agency, amounts
available, normal timetables and contact information. An appendix
provides more federal agency general contacts and grant-specific
information.
Much of the information provided is "old news" in the sense
that most of the grant programs have already been described elsewhere,
but this collection has been updated, is quite comprehensive, very readable,
user friendly and value-added. It can be accessed online at http://www.whitehouse.gov/government/fbci/catalogue.pdf
