Employ Florida Banner Centers are an award-winning, statewide, industry-driven initiative focused on workforce education and training. Since they began in 2006, Banner Centers have forged unprecedented partnerships among workforce, education, industry and economic development that have resulted in timely, industry-relevant training for nearly 9,500 Floridians, and achievement of more than 8,000 industry credentials. The Banner Centers initiative has received The International Economic Development Council’s Excellence Award for partnership with educational institutions. The recently released 2012 Enterprising States report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognizes Florida as the nation’s top ranking state for Talent Pipeline. Banner Centers, designed to address Florida’s talent pipeline needs, are recognized by the same report as one of several Florida “Policies that Produce.” Through direct input from Florida businesses, the Banner Centers continue to develop and coordinate educational and training resources to boost the competitiveness of targeted industries that diversify Florida’s economy.
The Banner Centers – collectively and individually – are undergoing a transition beginning in July 2012 and continuing through December 2013. Some of the centers are transforming into self-sustaining industry resources while others are developing plans to become self-sustaining, phase out as we know them, or end entirely. Workforce Florida looks forward to continued collaboration and partnership among Florida’s business, education, economic development and workforce communities as we collectively endeavor to make Florida a global business and talent leader.
