President's Message
Since the creation of Florida’s public-private workforce system more than 10 years ago, Workforce Florida’s vision for developing a globally competitive workforce for our state has guided every aspect of our work.
Becoming a sustained leader for creating world-class talent influences our efforts daily to design strategies that help Floridians enter, remain and advance in the workforce while strengthening the state’s business climate.
As President of Workforce Florida, I am proud that through great collaboration we now have a state strategic plan for workforce development, Creating the Strategy for Today’s Needs and Tomorrow’s Talent, that sets a bold path for continuing our important work. Our role as the statewide workforce investment board has never been more important and the work ahead remains immense.
As the fourth-largest state in America, we continue to weather economic challenges, such as high unemployment, from the global recession. Still, our focus on developing Florida’s talent, at every skill level, as a driver for economic development and job creation in the new economy remains firm.
With an emphasis on job creation and retention, innovation, cultivating new and existing partnerships, performance and accountability, Workforce Florida is as committed as ever to our workforce system’s efforts to help unemployed Floridians get back to work while also contributing to our state’s chief economic development goal—diversifying Florida’s economy.
The alignment of our priorities for talent development with those of our partners in workforce, education, business and economic development is unprecedented, exciting and inspires my optimism for Florida’s bright future.
Our nationally recognized workforce system is contributing to new economic opportunities for Floridians and businesses right now and providing a solid foundation for others come.
